Gyalshing, Nov 10 ( IPR) The former Chief Minister of Sikkim Late Shri Sanchaman Limboo was cremated with full state honours of three gun salute at the bank of College Khola, today.
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) paid final tribute by laying wreath and offering prayers to the former Chief Minister Late Shri Limboo at his native place at Hee Gaon, earlier this morning.
Also the Hon’ble Dy Speaker Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Hon’ble Ministers, Hon’ble MLAs, Hon’ble Member of Parliament/ Lok Sabha, Hon’ble Political Secretary to HCM, Hon’ble Advisors & Hon’ble Chairpersons, Retired Army Personnel,Officials and prominent dignitaries attended the final rites to pay tribute to the great soul.
The funeral procession was proceeded towards the College Khola crematorium from his native place Hee Gaon at 10:30 am. The Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) and all the dignitaries joined the final procession with hundreds of well wishers and villagers.
Late Shri Limboo passed away on 8th November at the age of 73, after a prolonged illness.
Late Shri Limboo was one of the prominent political leaders who served the state as the Fourth Chief Minister for six months from 17th June 1994 to 12th December 1994. He also served the state as the minister for Health & Social Welfare Deptts. from 1985 to 1989.
During his tenure as a politician, Late Shri Limboo was accolade with Tamra Patra Award in the year (1984), Sikkim Samman Award (2004), Golden Award by the Citizen Forum of Nepal (2006) and Sikkim Sewa Ratna Award (2012) for his tremendous contribution in various aspects of State’s development.
Today the State has declared holiday, where all the Government Offices, Educational Institutions and Public Undertakings remains closed throughout the State of Sikkim as a mark of respect to the departed leader.
