Annual Pelling Tourism Festival

Gyalshing,11th Dec.(IPR): Pelling is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Sikkim and is popular as it offers breathtaking vistas of Mt. Kanchenjunga and other Himalayan peaks. The town comes alive with the Annual Pelling Tourism Festival (also known as Kanchenjunga Winter Tourism Festival). It is usually held in the month of December. The festival offers a window into the rich and varied cultural heritage of the state, combined with plenty of adventure activities such as trekking, rock climbing, paragliding, mountain biking, zipline, etc.

To make the Festival successful, the meeting was held today at Hotel Sonamchen, Pelling. The meeting was graced by the Hon’ble Minister for PHE &Water supply, Shri Bhim Hang Limboo accompanied by DC West, Shri Karma R.Bonpo, SP West, Shri Tashi W. Bhutia, ADC(Dev)West, Shri Shri Surat Gurung HOD’S from various Departments, Panchayats, members of Pelling Tourism Development Association and the local public of Pelling West Sikkim.

Addressing the gathering Minister PHE & Water Supply, Shri Bhim Hang Limboo spoke about the importance of the Festival and its advantages that can be obtained by the local public of Pelling, West Sikkim. He ensured the gathering that he will provide all necessary help for making the Festival a grand success. He also urged the Office of District Administration and all the HOD’S to jointly coordinate to come up with good feedbacks.

Further, DC West, Shri Karma R.Bonpo congratulated all the members of PellingTourism Development Association(PTDA) for coming up with innovative ideas. He requested PTDA to give the first priority to the rural youths and encourage them to take part in various events. He also requested all the HOD to work seriously on the task distributed during the meeting.

During the course of the meeting, an interactive session with the HOD and the members of PTDA was also conducted wherein feedbacks and requirements were discussed in detail.

At the intention of the meeting, Minister Limboo flagged off a fleet of garbage collection vehicles of West District Municipal Council, West Sikkim. The new vehicle comprising mobile transfer stations.
