Gyalshing, Dec19: (IPR) The most popular cultural festival of the Lepcha community, Namsoong was celebrated with much zeal and traditional honour at Manikyong, Bermiok, West Sikkim, today. The Hon’ble Minister-cum-Area MLA of Gyalshing Bermiok constituency, Shri Lok Nath Sharma graced the occasion as the Chief Guest in the special presence of the Hon’ble Advisor Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Shri Durga Prasad Pradhan. The Namsoong festival was organized by Bermiok Rongong Sezum.
Minister Sharma, in his address, expressed his happiness on being part of the program and further articulated the affirmative significance of communal harmony, spirituality, cultural and social aspects as an impact of celebrating the traditional festival of Namsoong. He also highlighted the various developmental works carried out in the Gyalshing Bermiok constituency within a short span of time and further assured to work relentlessly to make people economically upgraded and self-reliant. He also extended his best wishes and greetings for the festive season and New Year 2021.
The Hon’ble Minister, Shri Loknath Sharma was also presented souvenir and costumes of Lepcha community.
Earlier, a member of the Organizing Committee, Shri Phurzang Lepcha underlined the objectives and significance of the Namsoong festival. The program also saw cultural performances, sports activities, and yoga demonstrations.
Minister Sharma also handedover souvenir and certificates to the participants.
