Gangtok, December 10: The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang offered his presence via video from his official residence at Mintokgang, during the foundation stone laying ceremony (Bhumi Pujan and Shilanyas) of New Parliament House Building (adjacent to the old Parliament) in New Delhi today.
The event was chaired by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi in the august presence of Hon’ble Speaker of Lok Sabha, Shri Om Birla, Union Ministers, Deputy Chairman (Rajya Sabha), and the Leader of the Opposition (Rajya Sabha). Speakers, Ambassadors, Chief Ministers and other distinguished dignitaries also graced the event.
The Hon’ble President of India and the Vice President conveyed their regards on this historic day. The former Prime Ministers Dr Manmohan Singh and H.D. Devegowda also sent their best wishes. Spiritual leaders, representatives of the various religious institutions and organisation across the country were also present.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister stressed on camaraderie and unity, stating that the new Parliament Building will be a momentous milestone, representing traditional ethos and values of modern India with the essence of culture and traditions of the country.
