Covid-19 vaccination launched at Namchi District Hospital

Namchi, 19th January(IPR): The vaccination drive of COVID-19 commenced at Namchi District Hospital, today. The Chief Guest for the program was Zilla Adhyaksha (South) Smt. Tshering Dem Bhutia, DC (South) Shri. M. Bharani Kumar, CMO (South) Dr. D.C. Sharma representative from World Health Organization and United Nations Development Programme, local gentry Shri. Ganesh Rai and staff from the hospital and other officials.

Chief Guest Smt. Tshering Dem Bhutia spoke about how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected our state and put a strain on our normal day to day activities. She also lauded the relentless work done by the Healthcare workers in fighting this disease and urged everyone to take this vaccination.

Addressing, the gathering (DMS) Dr. S N Adhikari spoke about the importance of this vaccine and informed that together with the masses and with required precautionary measures we can defeat COVID-19. He added that a simultaneous vaccination drive began at West and East district on 16th January wherein healthcare staff was lined up to be vaccinated. He also briefed about the dos and don’ts that the patients need to adhere to after taking the vaccination and said that India’s COVID-19 vaccination drive is divided into multiple phases and currently we are in the first phase drive.

Moreover, in the presence of the health staff, the first shot of vaccine was administered to a Pediatrician Doctor Roshan Poudyal. It may be mentioned that a total number of 85 healthcare workers were vaccinated, today.
