Hon’ble Governor inaugurated the new building of the Post Office of India at Pakyong

Gangtok, January 19 (IPR): The Hon’ble Governor Shri Ganga Prasad inaugurated the new building of the Post Office of India at Pakyong, today. The Governor also released a special envelope cover of the Post Office of India. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Hon’ble MLA cum Chairman of STCS, Shri Bishnu Khatiwara as the Guest of Honor, Chief Postmaster General of West Bengal, Sikkim and Andaman and Nicobar, Shri Mervin Alexander, and Postmaster General of North Bengal, Sikkim Region Shri Joshep Lalrinsailova, officials of Pakyong Sub-Division and the general public.

The Governor in his address thanked the Department of Posts for acknowledging the need for postal services for the people of Pakyong Sub-Division. He congratulated the people of Pakyong and said that the new Post Office will open up a channel of uninterrupted communicational services to meet the increasing demand and expectations of various governmental schemes.

During the program, the Governor also handed over the passbook under the ‘Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana’ to the beneficiaries who opened their account in the Post Office.

Chief Postmaster General, Shri Mervin Alexander said that the Pakyong Post Office will provide all types of services including Postal Life Insurance, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Postal Payment Bank Facilities which would be beneficial for the people of Pakyong Sub-Division.
