Gangtok, January 6(IPR): Hon’ble Shri. Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari was sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the High Court of Sikkim in an official function held at Ashirwad Hall, Raj Bhawan today.
Shri. Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari was administered Oath/Affirmation of office as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Sikkim by the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri. Ganga Prasad.
The ceremony had the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri. Prem Singh Tamang, Hon’ble Cabinet Ministers, Hon’ble Judge High Court of Sikkim Smt. Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai, Hon’ble Judge High Court of Sikkim Shri. Justice Bhaskar Raj Pradhan, Deputy Speaker Sikkim Legislative Assembly, MLAs, MP Lok Sabha, Chairperson, Lokayukta of Sikkim Justice Shri A. P. Subba, Chief Secretary, DGP, Senior officials of the State Government, Raj Bhavan and High Court Registry, members of BAR and host of other dignitaries.
Born on June 29, 1961, Shri Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari hails from a small town in Madhya Pradesh named Joura in Morena district. He was earlier serving as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh and was also a Judge at the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
The swearing-in ceremony was followed by the offering of traditional khadas to the Chief Justice by the Hon’ble Governor, Hon’ble Chief Minister, and all dignitaries present.
Earlier, the Chief Secretary Shri S.C. Gupta read out the Notification of Government of India, Ministry of Law and Justice dated 31.12.2020.
