A District Level launch of ” Catch the Rain, Where It falls, When it falls “organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Namchi

Namchi, 1st February (IPR): A District Level launch of ” Catch the Rain, Where It falls, When it falls “organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Namchi under the chairmanship of DC (South) Shri. M Bharani Kumar was held at DAC, Conference Hall, today. The chief guest for the program was SDM(Namchi)Shri Agawane Rohan Ramesh. He was accompanied by District Youth Officer(DYO) Shri Muskan Rai, Representatives from line departments, and members of various youth clubs.

The Chief Guest in his address expressed that “Catch the Rain, When it Falls, Where it Falls ” is an initiative taken up by the National Water Mission(NWM), Ministry of Jal Shakti in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, so as to tackle water issues more holistically. The campaign focuses on creating awareness amongst the public for the conservation of water, minimizing wastage, and achieving effective utilization of water. He further stated that the campaign will involve more of the youngsters for creating awareness so as to make them understand the importance of water and encouraged them to come forward and give their valuable contribution towards the conservation of water.

(DYO) Shri Muskan Rai highlighted the aims and objectives of the campaign”Catch the Rain”. He said that the campaign with the tagline “when it falls where it falls” is a step towards conserving water adopting various methods, such as rainwater harvesting, minimizing wastage of water, and proper utilization of water. He further said that the first step of this campaign will be to create awareness amongst the people. He informed that the target of the campaign is to spread awareness to at least 50 villages of each district of India. He added that the block level like Sadam, Namchi, Jorethang, Namthang, and Sumbuk have been chosen for the said project.

The programme also witnessed the web presentation on the mission of the said campaign by the member of Voice, Namchi.

Furthermore, Awards were presented to the winners of the Swatch Bharat Summer Internship which was held in the year 2019. The Internship was held both at District and State levels. At the district level, Miss Saraswati Rai bagged third prize Likewise Soujanya Youth Club won the second prize. In the State, Level NSS Volunteers of Jorethang Senior Secondary School won a cash prize and Voice Namchi bagged the First prize both at district and state level.
