Hon’ble Minister Shri L.N. Sharma chaired a coordination meeting with the officials of AH&VS, DOF & SMU

Gangtok, June 21 (IPR): The Hon’ble Minister for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Shri Lok Nath Sharma chaired a coordination meeting with the departmental officials of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Directorate of Fisheries and Sikkim Milk Union at his official chamber at Tashiling Secretariat, today.

The meeting was attended by Secretary, AH&VS, Dr. Sangey D. Bhutia, Manazing Director Sikkim Milk Union Dr. A.B Karki, Director(AH) Dr. B.M Chettri, Director (Feed & Fodder) Dr. Ghanashyam Sharma, Additional Director of Fisheries Shri CS Rai, Additional Directors, Scheme Incharge, Joint Directors and Officials, AH&VS Department.

The meeting had thorough discussion on the need for conducting preliminary exercise for the implementation and rolling out of financial incentives of Rupees Five Thousand, announced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister to benefit and encourage farmers in the piggery sector.

The Hon’ble Minister advised to form Three Tier Committees at Central, District and Gram Panchayat Unit Level at the earliest for taking up onward action, comprehensively. He advised to conduct Field Survey for Registration of pigs/piglets, Insurance Coverage and to prepare appropriate mechanism in ensuring smooth mode of implementation to achieve visionary objectives envisioned by the Hon’ble Chief Minister.

He came out with an advice to submit a proposal before the Rural Development Department, Govt. of Sikkim, for the construction of Piggery Shed of identified households.

Hon’ble Minister Shri Sharma also directed to immediately install the Digital X-Ray Machine at State Veterinary Poly Clinic at Deorali. He assured to resolve the issues related to the requirement of adequate strength of Power supply in coordination with the concerned department, at the earliest.

Shri Sharma enquired on the work progress pertaining to taking over of Cheese Plant, Dentam. He also directed the concerned officials to expedite the process of making North Milk Union, fully functional and operational.

The Hon’ble Minister directed the concerned officials for time bound implementation of schemes with new vigor and dedication. He urged everyone to be well aware of all activities including the delivery of quality inputs before the identified beneficiaries.

He also enquired about the current status of various schemes with the concerned incharge of various sections including Feed and Fodder, Disease Investigation Cell, Piggery, Dairy, RKVY, Veterinary Services, Poultry, State Livestock Development Board, Bio Medical Waste, Extension and Training, Statistics, Research and others.

Managing Director, Sikkim Milk Union, Dr. A. B. Karki also informed that the production of milk has been increasing continuously, and recently touched Fifty Four Thousand liter per day. He appraised about the ongoing disbursement of Interest Free loan of Rupees Forty Thousand to the dairy farmers, provision of interest free loan of Rupees Forty Thousand against death of a cow, Insurance Scheme of 50:50 ratio to be started in near future.
