Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Diwas, was observed at Tashiling Secretariat

Gangtok, November 26 (IPR): Constitution Day, also known as Samvidhan Diwas, was observed at Tashiling Secretariat today.

The brief function had the participation of officers and staff of all the Departments located within the Tashiling Secretariat premises.

To mark the important occasion, Secretary, Protocol, Home Department, Government of Sikkim, Shri SK Pradhan led the Preamble reading ceremony which was participated by all the officers and staff assembled. He also spoke briefly about the significance of the day.

This year, the Constitution Day programme was organized throughout the country on a wide scale and the Preamble Reading Ceremony was led by the President of India which was streamed live in all Government Institutions and educational institutions throughout the country.

Constitution Day is celebrated in India on 26th November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. On 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, and it came into effect on 26 January 1950. The Government of India declared 26th November as Constitution Day on 19th November 2015 by a gazette notification.
