One Day Awareness Programme on Sexual Harassment at workplace 2013

Namchi,17th November: One Stop Centre, Jorethang South Sikkim along with WHL-181 organised One Day Awareness Programme On Sexual Harassment At Workplace 2013. The Services was provided by One Stop Centres and WHL-181 at IPCA, Laboratories Ltd, today.

The programme was conducted by Ms Rupa Rai, WHL-181. Women from the IPCA, Laboratories Ltd. had actively participated.

The programme was graced by the Sr. Officer (HR) madam Dipika Adhikari.Resource person from WHL-181,

Ms Namina Lakhey, Helpline Manager spoke on the services provided by 181-Women Helpline. She also reflected on the ways of how one can reach out for help.

Ms Sangita Gurung, Centre Administrator(S)highlighted on roles and functions of the One-Stop Centre. She briefed about the services provided to aggrieved women, who can opt through One Stop Centre and the cases which comes frequently in the centre for assistance. She shed light upon the sexual harassment at Workplace Act 2013 and the interim relief and highlighted on roles of the Internal Complaint Committee and the Third Party Facilitators.

Resource Person, Advocate Pradeep Rai, OSC(E)spoke on various forms of violence against women and children and the different special laws relating to them. He highlighted various provisions of the protection of women from Domestic Violence Act 2005, which provides different forms of remedies to the aggrieved person like Protection Order, Residential Order, Maintenance, Custody and Compensation. He spoke on women trafficking issues, POCSO and the rise in the number of missing children cases. He talks about cybercrime and cyberstalking and how an innocent can fall prey to the perpetrator’s evil plan. Further, he informed about the free legal aid available to women and children which shall be given from the office of the State Legal Services Authority.

Madam Dipika Adhikari,Sr.Officer(HR) thanked the entire team for conducting the awareness programme and requested the team to conduct such programmes periodically. She even suggested providing awareness to a male employee of the company. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Ms Rupa Rai, WHL-181.
