One day workshop on Initiative of Ministry of Minority Affairs

Namchi,23rd November (IPR): One day workshop on Initiative of Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA) was organised in joint coordination with Primitive Tribe Welfare Board, Social Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim at SIRD hall, Karfectar, today.

The participants were from BAC Jorethang and Sikkip along with Mr Tenzing Bhutia BDO Jorethang, SWI Jorethang, SWI Sikkip, Welfare Officer Mr Kyondit Lepcha, Panchayat from 3 GPUs under BAC Jorethang, WI (MOMA) Division Mr Gyalsten Wongdi Lepcha, Officials from Gangtok and the teacher as Institutional Nodal Officer (INO) dealing with scholarship schemes at Schools.

Additional Director, Mr K.L. Lepcha in his address highlighted the various schemes under the Ministry of Minority Affairs (MOMA). He further stated about the various schemes of Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikash Karyakram (PMJVK) under which various development works like construction of school buildings, a hostel for boys and girls, playground with gallery and PHSC building can be covered. He also added that the demand for such development works should come from Block Development Plans through BAC level from BDO to District Level Committee and to headquarter Gangtok, State Level. He also highlighted Minority Scholarship Schemes like Post Matric Scholarship to students belonging to Minority students, Pre-matric Scholarship to students belonging to Minority students, Merit cum Means based Scholarship Students belonging to Minority Students.

Mr Gyalsten Wongdi Lepcha, WI Headquarter spoke about the technical issues and process for applying Minority Scholarship Schemes through National Scholarship Portal ( NSP) www.scholarshipgov.in. He also informed about the roles and responsibilities of the Institutional Nodal Officer at the school or institutional level. He also highlighted various scholarship schemes like Pre- Matric and Post- Matric Scholarship for ST, SC, OBC, & EBC(Economically Backward Class) through the state portal website-

www.socialwelfarescolarship.sikkim.gov.in. He further informed that the last date of submission of the form is 30th November 2021 which can be extended for a week.

Mr Jaganath Sharma informed about the various Skill Development Schemes being initiated by Central Government.

It may be mentioned here that simultaneously, the same program was conducted at Sumbuk BAC which was attended by Chairperson Mr Chewang Norbu Lepcha, Primitive Tribe Welfare Board, Gangtok, teachers, Panchayat and officials from SW Department, today.
